Akshayan Karunakaran

I'm a Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Ruhuna and a software engineer who has shipped production mobile and web apps end-to-end at Tekly Solutions — architecture, API design, authentication, payments, and deployment included.

I care about clean systems, thoughtful UX, and code the next engineer can pick up without a walkthrough. I've led and tested cross-border mobile projects as part of a distributed team, and my final-year research explored vision-language models for automated medical report generation.

  1. Junior Software Engineer

    Tekly Solutions (Pvt) Ltd · Sri Lanka

    • Continued at Tekly Solutions after the internship, building Cricly — a multi-sport coaching and coach-booking mobile app with Flutter and Firebase.
    • Shipped session booking with single and recurring multi-day schedules, plus player performance tracking with charts and calendar views.
    • Integrated Firebase auth (Google & Apple sign-in), Cloud Firestore, FCM push notifications, and Stripe payments.
    • Worked in cross-functional Agile teams — code reviews, sprint planning, and release cycles.

  2. Software Engineering Intern

    Tekly Solutions (Pvt) Ltd · Sri Lanka

    • Owned UI/UX design and full-stack development for a Pet Care web application.
    • Designed responsive, user-focused interfaces in React and built the APIs behind them with Node.js and Express.js.
    • Handled data storage, CRUD, auth, and real-time updates across MongoDB and Firebase.
    • Deployed and hosted the production app.
